Honors Scholarships 

The following scholarships are available only to Honors' students who are enrolled in the fall and/or spring semester of this year.

PURPOSE

For academically gifted students. (Financial need is a requisite for only the Hedin Scholarship.)

These funds are to assist a student in reaching his/her educational objectives. 

APPLICATION DEADLINE

5:00 p.m. on the First Friday in March.

TYPES

CHANCELLORS SCHOLARSHIP

One year full, in-county, tuition (up to 18 credits/semester), plus $250 each semester for books and supplies. Only one of these scholarships will be awarded. Recipient is selected by the GWCC Honors for Excellence Committee.

MARICOPA FOUNDATION SCHOLARSHIP

$500 ($250 per semester).
Two of these scholarships will be awarded. Recipient is selected by the GWCC Honors for Excellence Committee. 

BETTY HEDIN ELSNER SCHOLARSHIP

$200 ($100 per semester). Must demonstrate financial need. One recipient is selected in the District by the Maricopa Colleges Foundation.

CRITERIA

1. Must be enrolled in the Honors' Program.
2. Must be willing to enroll and complete at least 12 credit hours, or more, at GateWay, per semester, for the duration of the scholarship.
3. Must have taken at least 12 credits at GWCC with a GPA of 3.25 or higher.
4. Must have completed the Honors Application and returned all requested supporting documents by the first Friday in March.

INSTRUCTIONS

1. Complete the online application.
2. Obtain needed signatures.
3. Submit signed application to the Honors Coordinator.
